Changing It Up: Book Launch and New Series!
Hey!
So, things are getting really crazy really fast and I, for one, am feeling alone and more than a bit scared. We’re all being told to stay home as much as we can and I feel like it won’t matter anyway and also the kids are driving me crazy and basically, life has been put on hold. But I’m trying to remember that every part of my life counts, even the seasons that are very much not according to my plan.
I was planning a book launch reading, as best as my first time self could, but then the city shut down all public room reservations (which included my little community center attempt at a celebration). Part of me wondered if I should even bother pushing out this book right now. Maybe this was a sign that this was never meant to be and I should order a copy for my shelf and just get started on the next book.
But we’re in a unique time. One in which I hope we’re learning how important it is to care about each other and to make that care come alive in very real and very practical ways. And I think that’s so important that I wrote a book about it. Unfortunately, a lot of the pieces in the book include actually, you know, getting to be in the same room together. But our human need for connection hasn’t changed and so I’m going to do two things:
Release the book now, since it’s ready anyway. I am so honored that anyone at all is interested in reading my work and since you’re all going to be hanging out, please consider adding my book to your reading pile! You can get it on Amazon for Kindle or print. Interrupt my current series to do shorter, daily blogs about staying connected and finding joy. I’m going to scour the internet, think about what’s working here, and elevate voices who are helping us meet the needs we have right now. I am going to do it every day because, at least around here, we’re living day by day.
Thank you for reading my blog and for being connected with me. I appreciate each and every one of you. (I really do! My blog platform lets me know where, geographically, the users are and you can ask Forrest, I’ll sit there and say, “Oh look! Someone from Georgia! It must be my brother or sister-in-law! And hey! Someone from Idaho! Wow, cool!” You all make me so happy.)
